Outlook 2002/2003

Estimated Reading Time: 2 Minutes

This guide is intended for customers using Microsoft Outlook 2002/2003. As these versions are no longer supported by Microsoft, some features or security options may differ from newer versions of Outlook.

Before You Begin

Have the following information ready:

  • Your SpinTel username (or full email address if prompted)
  • Your email password

If this is your first email account:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook 2002/2003.
  2. The E-mail Accounts Wizard should appear automatically.

If you already have an email account configured:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Select Tools > E-mail Accounts.
  3. Select Add a new e-mail account, then click Next.

Follow the prompts and apply the following settings. For Incoming email server type, choose:

  • IMAP (Recommended), or
  • POP

Tip: We recommend using IMAP, especially if you access your email from multiple devices (such as a phone, tablet, or computer). IMAP keeps your emails synchronised across all your devices.

Enter the corresponding settings of the incoming email server type of your choice below.

If you're changing an existing email account from POP to IMAP or from IMAP to POP, we recommend backing up any important emails before making the change. This helps prevent accidental data loss, as some email applications store emails differently depending on the account type.

Troubleshooting

If you're unable to send or receive emails, try the following:

  • Confirm your email address (or username) and password are correct.
  • Verify the incoming and outgoing server names.
  • Ensure the correct ports and encryption settings are selected.
  • Confirm My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is enabled.
  • Verify Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
  • Check your internet connection.
  • Close and reopen Outlook.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Remove and re-add the email account if necessary.
  • If you've recently changed your email password, update it in Outlook before trying again.

If the issue persists, please contact SpinTel Support for further assistance.
