Mobile Services for Customers Under 18

If a mobile service is being used by someone under 18 years of age, the service must be registered under an adult account holder (18 years or older). This ensures the service can be activated, managed, and supported in accordance with our account requirements.

Who Can Hold the Account?

The account holder must be an adult aged 18 or over. The adult account holder is responsible for:

  • Managing the service and account
  • Paying all charges and bills
  • Authorising any account changes
  • Ensuring the service is used appropriately

While the service can be used by a minor, the minor cannot be listed as the account holder.

New Mobile Activations

When activating a new mobile service for a person under 18:

  • The service must be ordered under an adult account holder's name.
  • The adult's personal details must be used during signup and verification.
  • Once activated, the service can be used by the minor.

Transferring (Porting) an Existing Number to SpinTel

If a customer under 18 is currently using a mobile service with another provider and would like to transfer their number to SpinTel, the process may vary depending on how the existing service is registered.

If the Existing Service is Prepaid

If the prepaid service is registered with the other provider using the minor's details, please contact our Support Team before submitting the port request.

Our team will guide you through the available options and help ensure the transfer is completed correctly.

If the Existing Service is Postpaid

If the minor's service is currently on a postpaid plan with another provider, you can transfer the number to SpinTel by logging in to the adult account holder's SpinTel account and submitting the port request using the correct account number from the current provider.

Once the transfer is completed, the service will be managed under the adult account holder's SpinTel account, while the minor can continue using the same mobile number.

 

Personalising Your Services

If you manage multiple services on your account, you can assign a nickname to each service through your online account. For example:

  • Emma's Mobile
  • Teen Mobile
  • School Phone

This makes it easier to identify and manage individual services.

Important Information

  • Customers under 18 cannot be registered as account holders.
  • All mobile services for minors must be linked to an adult account holder aged 18 or over.
  • This requirement applies to both new mobile activations and number transfers (ports) to SpinTel.
  • The adult account holder is responsible for all account activity, usage, charges, and account management.
