Is ZTE H268A Modem NBN Ready?
The ZTE H268A is a popular nbn™ modem router that will also work with SpinTel for FTTN/B, FTTC, HFC, FTTP, and Fixed Wireless NBN services.
How Do You Connect Your ZTE H268A Modem?
Depending on your nbn connection type, connect one of the following:
If there is no NBN Connection Box installed, connect the DSL port at the back of your router to your phone wall socket.
If there is an NBN Connection Box installed, connect the WAN port at the back of your router to your NBN Connection Box.
Connect the Phone 1 port on the back of your router to your telephone handset, if there’s any
Connect any of the 4 LAN ports on the back of your router to your PC (optional)
Connect the Power port on the back of your router to your power socket
To get connected via your ZTE H268A modem, you'll need to log into your modem gateway.
Note: This can be done on most mobile devices, but we recommend doing these steps with your PC if you have one.
How Do You Log in To Your ZTE H268A Modem?
To access the modem interface, please make sure your device is connected to your modem through a wired or wireless connection.
1. From your browser, type in 192.168.20.1 into the address bar and hit Enter.
If it does not work or if it has been changed, check your router's IP address. For instructions, click here.
2. Enter admin in the username and password field then click Login.
How Do You Set Up Your ZTE H268A Modem?
Once logged in, you will have several options listed at the top of the page.
Click ‘Internet‘. You will see several options listed on the left side of the page.
Click ‘WAN“. You will then see 3 tabs at the top of the page – DSL, Ethernet & 3G.
Select the appropriate one for your premises NBN connection type
A. Click ‘Ethernet‘ for FTTP/HFC/FTTC/Fixed Wireless NBN connection types
B. Click 'DSL' for FTTN or FTTB NBN connection typesDelete any existing settings/profile by clicking the trash icon.
Click ‘Create New Item‘.
For FTTP/HFC/FTTC/Fixed Wireless NBN connection types
For FTTN or FTTB NBN connection types
Add SpinTel on the Connection Name.
Accept default values and make sure the PPP Transfer type is PPPoE
Note: For Service List, select INTERNET and VOIP if you have a home phone, otherwise, just select Internet if you don't have one.Enter the PPP username and password provided to you via email and hit Apply
WAN connection (FTTP/HFC/FTTC/Fixed Wireless service)
DSL connection (FTTN/B service)
Wait 3-5 minutes for your ZTE H268A modem to go online, then test the service. Reboot the modem if needed.
How do you reset a ZTE H268A modem?
Important note: Resetting your ZTE modem to its factory settings will erase all customized information such as Wi-Fi network names and passwords.
To reset your ZTE H268A modem to its original factory settings, follow these steps:
1. From the back of your ZTE modem, locate the Reset button hole. It can be found between the WPS and WLAN buttons.
2. Using a thin object such as a toothpick or pin, press and hold the reset button for at least 30 seconds.
3. Release the reset button.
4. The modem will then restart – this may take a few minutes.
Your ZTE H268A modem is restored to its original factory settings.
How to change your WiFi password on ZTE H268A Modem?
1. With your device connected through wired or wireless, log in to your ZTE modem.
2. Please follow the below steps and go to the configuration page. You may use one of the below steps
Local Network->WLAN->WLAN Basic; or
Home-> WLAN Devices->WLAN setting -> WLAN Basic
3. Expand the window “WLAN SSID configuration”
4. Edit the text field next to WPA Passphrase to change the WIFI Password
Additionally, you may change the SSID Name to your preferred name but make sure to note if the name is 2.4GHz or 5GHz for identification purposes.
What is the difference between 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies?
2.4GHz provides coverage at a longer range and the speed of transmitting data is slower compared to 5GHz
5GHz provides coverage at a shorter range and the speed of transmitting data is faster compared to 2.4GHz
Note: Some devices may not have the 5GHz frequency as an option due to its compatibility.
