To get connected via your Netgear modem, you'll need to log into your modem gateway.

Note: This can be done on most mobile devices, but we recommend doing these steps with your PC if you have one.

Logging into your modem

To access modem gateway enter http://www.routerlogin.com or http://www.routerlogin.net in the address bar of a web browser. If it does not work or if it has been changed, check your router's IP address. For instructions, click here.

Use admin for the username and password for the password then click on Login.

The BASIC Home page displays.

To specify the settings for a cable or fibre Internet connection:

1. Change the default WAN connection method:

  • Select ADVANCED > Setup > WAN Setup

  • Select Must use Ethernet WAN for the WAN preference

  • Click Apply

Your settings are saved and the modem router restarts

If you use a WiFi-enabled computer or mobile device to connect to the modem router, you might need to log in again.

2. Go to the Basic tab and select Internet to set up the following:

  • Select Yes for the "Does your internet connection requires a login?"

  • Click the drop-down arrow for the Internet Service Provider and select PPPoE.

  • Enter the username (login) and password provided to you via email.

Click Apply to save the new settings.

Wait 3-5 minutes for the modem to go online, then test the service. Reboot modem if needed.

If you are still unable to connect, you may try the following:

  • Go to ADVANCED > Setup > WAN Setup.

  • Update the MTU size to 1492 and click Apply to save.

Note: The normal MTU value for most Ethernet networks is 1500 bytes, whilst for PPPoE connections is 1492 bytes. Change the MTU only if it is necessary.
