Is Huawei HG659 Modem NBN Ready?
The Huawei HG659 is a popular nbn™ modem router that will also work with SpinTel for FTTN/B, FTTC, HFC, FTTP, and Fixed Wireless NBN services.
How Do You Connect Your Huawei HG659 Modem?
Depending on your nbn connection type, connect to one of the following:
1. If there is no NBN Connection Box installed, connect the DSL port on the back of your modem to your phone wall socket using a phone cable.
If there is an NBN Connection Box installed, connect the NBN Connection Box to the WAN port on the back of your modem.
2. Connect any of the LAN ports on the back of your modem to your PC (optional)
3. Plug your home phone, if any, into the phone port on the back of your modem.
4. Plug the NBN connection box, if there’s any, and the modem router into the power socket.
Connecting devices with your Huawei HG659
A. Connect devices using WiFi:
Connect your device with the WiFi network of the modem. WiFi name and
password are located on the product label on the rear of your modem as
well as the WiFi sticker.
B. Connect devices using a cable (i.e. PC):
Plug one end of the yellow ethernet cable (LAN) into any of the four yellow
LAN ports on the back of your modem. Connect the other end to your
computer’s LAN port.
How Do You Log in To Your Huawei HG659 Modem?
To get connected via your Huawei HG659 modem, you'll need to log into your modem gateway.
Note: This can be done on most mobile devices, but we recommend doing these steps with your PC if you have one.
1. With your device connected to the modem through a wired or wireless connection, enter 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of a web browser.

Enter admin for both the username and password and click Login. If you have changed the login credentials, please enter the current username and password for your modem interface.
How Do You Set up Your Huawei HG659 Modem?
1. Once logged in, click Start Wizard.
2. Select Connect with user account (PPPoE connection).
Enter the username and password provided to you via email when the order was completed. Hit Next to continue.
3. Personalise your WiFi credentials and click Save to apply the changes.
Quick Setup complete!
Wait 3-5 minutes for the modem to go online, then test the service.

To make sure the modem is configured according to its nbn service type, please check the following:
If you are connecting through FTTN/FTTB service, click Edit under VDSL access type to review your nbn username and password.
For FTTC, FTTP, HFC or Fixed Wireless service, click Edit under Ethernet access type to review your nbn username and password.
Click Save to apply any changes made to the settings.
Tip: If the setup is still failing, go back to the Internet settings page and delete any other saved profile.
Click on Restart PPPoE on the profile you've created to retry, then test the service.
