How to Configure your FRITZBox Modem

How Do You Set up Your Fritzbox Modem?

  1. If there is no NBN Connection Box installed, connect the DSL port on the back of your Fritzbox modem to your phone wall socket using a phone cable.

  2. If there is an NBN Connection Box installed, connect to the WAN/Internet port (or LAN 1) on the back of your modem to your NBN Connection Box.

  3. Connect any of the LAN ports on the back of your modem to your PC (optional)

  4. Connect your telephone handset to FON 1 port (optional)

  5. Connect the power port on the back of your modem to your power socket.

  6. Plug the NBN connection box, if there’s any, to the power socket

How Do You Log Into Your Fritzbox Modem?

To access the modem interface, please make sure your device is connected to your Fritzbox modem through a wired or wireless connection.

 

1. Enter fritz.box or 192.168.178.1 in the address bar of a web browser.

 

If the IP address does not work or if it has been changed, check your router’s IP address. For instructions, click here.

Log in with your Fritzbox password. By default the password can be either admin or admin123.

Once logged in, you will be presented with a welcome screen. Click Cancel.

Click Exit Wizard and follow the manual configuration below.

How to configure your Fritzbox Modem for NBN HFC, FTTP, FTTC or Fixed Wireless service

1. Click Internet from the menu to the left of the screen and select Account Information.

2. Look for SpinTel on the ISP list, otherwise select "Other Internet Service Provider" if it’s not listed.

3. Tick the box next to the External modem or router.

4. Next, tick the box next to Establish own connection to the Internet.

5. Tick the box next to Yes for Account Information.

6. Enter the username and password provided to you via email.

 

7. Under "Data Throughput", enter the Downstream and Upstream speeds for your NBN plan as per the reference table below.

 

Note: If you’re not sure which NBN plan you have, please check your order confirmation.

 

8. Click on Change Connection Settings to ensure VLAN Settings is not enabled.

 

As Spintel does not require VLAN ID, this must be blank (and not be zero or any other digit).

 

9. Scroll down and click Apply button to save your settings.

 

The FRITZ!Box will display a pop-up window warning you that the LAN1 port on your FRITZ!Box will become the WAN port. Click OK to continue.

8. The FRITZ!Box will save your settings. Click OK to continue.

The FRITZ!Box will test your connection to the Internet. If successful, click OK. Otherwise, if the connection is not successful, check your cables and try again.

 

How to configure your Fritzbox Modem for NBN FTTN/FTTB service

1. Click Internet from the menu to the left of the screen and select Account Information.

3. Tick the box next to Connection to a DSL line.

 

4. Next, tick the box next to Establish own connection to the Internet.

5. Tick the box next to Yes for Account Information.

 

6. Enter the username and password provided to you via email.
